Dear Mass Air National Guard, You Poisoned Me With Lead… But You Already Knew That (2025)

Dear Mass Air National Guard,

You poisoned me with lead and made me lose more than twenty years of my life. I will spend the rest of my life making sure every Air National Guard member in the entire country understands the dangers of lead poisoning and how to treat it. I am a case study given the country including you is burying their head in the sand in regards to this issue.

I almost lost my life to lead poisoning and medical malpractice at the VA.

I will also make damn sure that any service member who leaves military service gets heavy metal toxicity testing right away as our Air Force members are exposed to more toxins and dangers than leadership is telling us about. They just BRAC the base after they poison it.

It’s a sad day when I had to learn from the EPA in 2023 that the 267th CBCS (and 102nd FW) was shut down due to lead in the soil and groundwater in 2004 while we were stationed there… As opposed to our commander informing us of what went down and educating us about how to protect ourselves, he provided bottled water with no explanation. It all makes sense now. I lost my 15 year military career to lead poisoning and no answers.

I lived for 4 years in your dorms while I was stop-lossed and started vomiting and getting severe migraines then, got sicker and sicker as the years went on with no answers, almost died, and have been in treatment for 2 years now, with many more to go.

This could have been prevented and prevented from getting worse and if I get cancer, it’s your fault…  I will make sure everyone knows. I plan on negatively impacting your recruiting efforts at JBCC for obvious reasons and I plan on making sure that every Air National Guard member is warned about the toxins they are exposed to and how to treat it.

YOU failed us.

And it would behoove you to start lead poisoning awareness right away given other folks are also in danger of a loss of quality of life, misdiagnosis and no answers, and death.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Norris
