Jennifer and Lee at Brunch at Perla, Sandals Negril:
📍Perla, Sandals Negril Jamaica

We included these particular photos because they truly represented where we were at when we were in Jamaica. Although this was our five year anniversary, we had been through a lot of trauma together because Lee’s ex-wife alienated him from his kids. It broke our hearts and as the years went on, we both slowly fell apart. We were looking forward to spending more time with them once we both retired from the Air Force… but it did not turn out that way. They stayed with us for a while in Maine in the 2009-2010 timeframe and were never allowed to return to Maine again.
Lee wanted at least 50/50 child custody but greedy, vindictive, bitter baby mama was not going to give up her monthly child support check. They lived with us for about six months before Lee hired an attorney to address the custody issue… and then all hell broke loose. The ex-wife weaponized our local police department who already hated us because we voted to eliminate two vacant police officer positions. The local police department were more than happy to oblige in our demise and together they all gang bullied us until we both wanted to kill ourselves.
“I wish this could be a more positive post but this trip was exactly what we needed.”
We lost the kids over false allegations and were absolute wrecks after the entire toxic experience. It changed us. You can’t imagine how it feels knowing you cannot contact your local police for fear of retaliation, abandonment, cruel treatment, and trumped up charges. Lee was sad about what happened with his kids and Jennifer was sad that the local police department betrayed their oath to citizens, abused their authority, and didn’t hide the fact they wanted us charged with felonies to fuck up our future or dead via murder by suicide or suicide by cop. Our health slowly declined over the years as a result of the corruption and a lack of healthcare in the State of Maine.
“The sicker we got, the more people acted like we were faking, and they faded away.”
Turns out Jennifer has chronic lead poisoning and complications because of a myriad of misdiagnosis for over two decades and Lee has a myriad of health issues including E-coli, H-pylori, tick borne disease & co-infections, cognitive health issues, and neuropathy. We’ve both been in treatment for three years since we moved to California in 2022… and in 2025, we still have a long way to go. We sold our home furnished and moved across the country to California for a number of reasons, one of which included healthcare, and the first doctor we found saved both our lives. We were not doing well and we knew we needed to find a Lyme literate doctor. The inflammation in our bodies could only be reversed with a doctor’s intervention.
We were both dying and if we didn’t get treatment quickly, we were heading straight to cancer. A stranger on the internet looked at our labs and told us we needed healthcare asap and it inspired us to sell the house and move to save our lives. There was no question what we needed to do once we realized the Maine healthcare system was not going to help us. They even denied further investigation of Lyme disease at infectious disease despite making a compelling case for Lyme in an area endemic to ticks. Jennifer does in fact have Lyme disease and that undiagnosed disease ended up being what sent her compromised immune system over the edge. Chronic lead poisoning was already slowly killing Jennifer after two decades with no answers.
