William R. Stowell Takes a Trip to St. Augustine, Florida to Visit Friends & the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument (1992)

I can’t wait to write about this Florida trip my Dad took to St. Augustine in 1992 but it won’t be as rich until I upload my own photos from Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. My father visited St. Augustine, Florida about six months after his son graduated from high school and I was a sophomore in my second year of college at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. I find it interesting that Dad visited a place that I ended up spending a significant amount of time at when I went to K9s for Warriors to get my service dog Onyx in 2013. We not only trained with our service dogs at Castillo de San Marcos but Lee and I also visited the location on a couple occasions when we went back down to Ponte Vedra Beach to do the service dog recertification every couple of years. We had the pleasure of visiting with my dad’s older brother, my Uncle Mike, and his wife, Aunt Jean, who live in Flagler Beach as well. Uncle Mike and Aunt Jean attended my graduation at K9s for Warriors and it means the world to me that they were there. My Dad and I love National Parks.
